5, 2006 Mr. Patrick Aloysius Callahan, 44, of Liverpool, died unexpectedly
on Thursday morning, October 5, 2006. Native of Syracuse's Northside and a
1980 graduate of Assumption Academy and a 1984 graduate of LeMoyne
College.He gave 20 years of distinguished service to the Syracuse Police
Department retiring as a Police Lieutenant in 2005. Patrick was a highly
decorated Police Officer and recipient of the Francis Hendricks Medal of
Honor, the highest medal awarded by the Syracuse Police Department. Patrick
also received the Police Lifesavers Award in 1987 and 1994 and the Captain
Jerry Slater Medal of Valor in 1994 and the Silver Star Medal in 1987. He
also received an honorable mention for the 1987 New York State Police
Officer of the Year award along with numerous departmental Bureau and
Divisional letters of commendation from the Syracuse Police Department.
Patrick was an avid and highly successful hunter and fisherman who loved the
outdoors. Patrick was predeceased by his father, Thomas M. Callahan on
August 20, 2006. Survived by his mother, Rita M. Callahan of Liverpool, NY;
his three children, Daniel, Rose and Jaylynn; his friend, Paige Billings of
Long Island; his six brothers and sisters, Thomas P. Callahan of Rochester,
NY, Mary M. Callahan of North Syracuse, NY, Joseph M. Callahan of Florence,
NY, Dr. John M. (Tracy) Callahan of Minoa, NY, Eileen R. (Dr. Scott) Reizun
of Cazenovia, NY, Rita C. (Timothy) Flaherty of Winter Garden, FL; numerous
nieces and nephews. Funeral Services are Monday at 11 a.m. at Keegan-Osbelt-Knight
Funeral Home and 11:30 a.m. at Assumption Church. Private burial will be in
St. Mary's Cemetery in Florence, NY. Calling hours are Sunday from 3 to 7
p.m. at the funeral home, 900 N. Salina Street. In lieu of flowers,
contributions may be made to Assumption Church, 812 North Salina Street,
Syracuse, NY 13208. Keegan-Osbelt-Knight Inc. 900 N. Salina Street
