Earl
Gillette of Camillus, passed away Tuesday at Crouse Hospital. Born in
Medina, he was a graduate of Eastwood High School. He served 25 years in the
Coast Guard on active duty on USS Woonsocket which patrolled the North
Atlantic Ocean. He served 18 months in the US Navy on the USS Sanborn during
the Korean War. He joined the Syracuse Police Dept. in 1947 and retired
after 35 years. He was a member of the Syracuse Police Retirees Association,
and the NYS Fraternal Police Assoc., and the VFW. He was an avid Syracuse
University and NY Yankee's fan. Survivors: his wife, Kathleen; daughter,
Diane (John) Gardener; granddaughter, Colleen (Joel) Lorenzo; stepdaughter,
Kathleen Monsour, stepsons, Michael Delpha, Daniel Delpha Sr.; one
great-grandson; four stepgrandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Services: 9 a.m. Saturday at Tindall Funeral Home and 9:30 a.m. Saturday at
St. Ann's Church, 4471 Onondaga Blvd. Burial will follow in St. Mary's
Cemetery, DeWitt. Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the
funeral home, 1921 W Genesee St., Syracuse. In lieu of flowers,
contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude
