April 20, 2005 Donald F. "Knobby" Sheridan, 91, of Syracuse,
passed away peacefully April 20 at St. Camillus Health & Rehabilitation
Center. A native of Yonkers, NY, Mr. Sheridan lived in Syracuse 86 years. He
retired in 1972 from the Syracuse Police Department with the rank of captain
after 30 years of service. He was a graduate of North High School and the
FBI. Academy in Washington, D.C. Mr. Sheridan was a communicant and Holy
Name Member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. He was a member of the Syracuse
Police Benevolent Association, Police Retirees' Association, Pastime
Athletic Club, and Tanner Valley Golf Club. Surviving are three children, a
daughter Catherine Trahan of Catskill, NY, and two sons, Edward F. Sheridan
and Dr. Donald T. Sheridan of Syracuse. Mr. Sheridan is also survived by
seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Sheridan was
predeceased by his wife, Helen T. Sheridan, who passed away in 1977.
Services will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Edward J. Ryan & Son
Funeral Home and 9:30 a.m. in St. Ann's Church on Onondaga Blvd. where a
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will be in St. Agnes
Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home,
3180 Bellevue Ave. Edward J. Ryan & Son Inc.
