11, 2008 James S. Lynch, 90, of Syracuse, passed away Monday at Crouse
Hospital with his family at his side. James retired in 1979, after 31
years of service, as an officer with the Syracuse Police Department and
formerly served as Vice President of the Syracuse P.B.A. He was a member
of the Syracuse Turners, a life member and former financial secretary of
the Pastime Athletic Club. He was a communicant of Assumption Church.
James was a semi-pro baseball player and an avid golfer and bowler.
During World War II, he served in the Army as a lieutenant in a tank
destroyer unit. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, the former
Violet Liadka; his daughters, Patricia Lynch, Cheryl (Tom) Rubado, Sue
(Mike) Angarano and Pamela (Dan) Dalton; his sons, Jim (Elaine),
Michael, Daniel, Timothy (Julie) all of Syracuse; and 10 grandchildren.
Calling hours will be Friday 4 to 8 p.m. at the Carter Funeral Home,
1604 Grant Blvd. Services will be Saturday 9:45 a.m. at the funeral home
followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Assumption
Church. Burial, with military honors, will be in Assumption Cemetery. To
