2, 2004 Mr. Walter James Sloan Jr., 73, passed away from respiratory failure
on Friday, April 2, 2004. Walt was born on September 27, 1931, in Syracuse,
NY, and moved to Lakeland, FL, in 1998. Walt was a member of the NY State
Troopers. He finished his law enforcement career of 30 years with the
Syracuse Police Department and retired in 1987 at the rank of Inspector.
Walt was a member of the Syracuse Fraternal Order of Police and a lifetime
member of the Pastime Club. Walt was a veteran of the United States Navy and
served in the Korean War. He was also a member of the Wanoa Monday Night
Twilight Golf League. Predeceased by one son Walter "Bub" Sloan in
1987. Survived by his wife Olga Denega Sloan; two daughters Bonnie Salvatore
of East Syracuse, NY, and Mary Olga Smith of Lakeland, FL; two sons John
Sloan of East Syracuse, NY, and William Sloan of Kirkville, NY; seven
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Friends and family are welcome to
attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, May 15, 2004, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary
of the Assumption Church, 401 North Main Street, Minoa, NY 13116. In lieu of
flowers please send donations to the Vera House, 2122 Erie Blvd. East,
