Tom Stassi, Sr.

Gaetano "Tom" Stassi, 77, of Mattydale died Friday. He was born in Syracuse. He retired in 1972 as a detective sergeant for the Syracuse Police Department after 25 years. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II.

Survivors: A daughter, Rosemary Mleziva of Texas; three sons, Thomas J. of North Carolina, Roy J. of Central Square and Salvatore of Hastings.

Webmaster note -  (In case you didn't know) - This is the father of PO's Tom & Roy Stassi whose careers coincided more closely with my own.  Tom  Sr. retired the year after we came on, but I still remember him with that USMC flat-top and ready smile.
